sometimes i feel bad about being "weird" and not in-tune with the mainstream internet experience, and then someone i follow posts about how absolutely awful ads and AI have gotten and i thank past-me for getting fed up enough with copilot to upend my entire digital existence.
i don't think my blood pressure could handle the "standard" tech world.

Between finishing up this semester and fucking around with my computer it's been a rough couple of weeks, but I should be able to post these silly strips more regularly now (for the two people who care lol)
As a side note, Linux Mint fucked me up so bad I felt the physical need to go and touch some grass, so that's a positive

I [now] use NixOS, btw
Day 58 - Jan 2nd, 12.024
So today's post is kinda different to me, because I'm now writing it in Obsidian as I normally do. Why?
Because I finally switched to NixOS! Sort of.
I pretty much at this moment have a totally clean install, no custom configuration, no installed software, nothing. Just the vanilla GNOME installation. Hopefully until tomorrow I have, at least part of, my previous environment set up, but I'm writing this right now directly on Tumblr's editor, because there's the possibility that I don't install Obsidian in time for this post's deadline.
It's feels good having a clean install again, for some reason I always feel great trying new things related to my computer and Linux.
Nonetheless, tomorrow I will probably do a better post explaining about what I want to do, what's NixOS, why I'm using it in more details, yadda yadda. For now if you end up curios, you can read Day 49's entry: Another "return", another "Change"

Video: Ultimate NixOS Guide - by Vimjoyer You know it will be good when the channel's name is Vimjoyer. This is the channel that most interested me in NixOS, and is now helping me into this new distro and way of using and organizing my computer. Having everything declarative in my computer can be a game changer for me.

My ADD Medication Journey - Dec 30, 2023
Forgot to post this yesterday because I was wrapped up in a personal project.
12/30/2023 – Saturday
Had another somewhat unsatisfying night's sleep
Combination of noise from outside and mind kind of refusing to stop processing
Nothing intrusive or unpleasant, things like "I should do this and this and this tomorrow"
Decided to lounge in bed later than usual to offset
Morning does taken at 10 am
Lazy day, relaxed to recoup from a very busy week
Didn't notice any serious uptick in tremors
Appetite was suppressed but managed to remember to eat around 2pm or so
Purchased some computer equipment to finally tackle a project I've been waiting on
Spent the evening working on this project—learning curve
Ate dinner around 6:30 – 7 pm
Stayed up later than I should have trying to get past the learning curve on the project

A tumble down a techie rabbit hole
A quick and descent into my attempts at gaming on Linux. #neckbeard
My parents tossed an old laptop my way, figuring I’d give it to my boys. It sat, collecting dust for months before I got around to trying to get some gaming clients running on it, Steam, Battle.net, Epic but I soon grew tired of Windows 10 being slow and bloated, being shite. In an attempt to clean it up, I slashed and burned all of the extra apps, turned off all of the startup apps; tried…

Linux Post Install Clean-Up
So, now that I’ve returned to Linux again, I’ve come across several sort of, clean-up tasks that needed to be completed to get things working fully.  A lot of my activities are, by design, machine agnostic.  That is to say, they run off “the cloud”, either through a service or something I am hosting. One big one I use is One Drive.  I don’t NEED one drive running locally, but it’s convenient and…

Usable, but ugly
Day 65 - Jan 9th, 12.024
I'm really needing to improve the creativity of these titles.
Well, I was able to fix yesterday's problem with Obsidian on my NixOS setup! I simply just installed the Flatpak version of it, and it worked out of the box (Flatpak is really the future, not gonna lie)
Nonetheless, the setup of Nix itself is not being too much of a hassle, most of the problems that I'm encountering are mostly things I need to learn and apply properly, or simply bugs like the Obsidian's Wayland support. I actually am enjoying a lot how Nix is facilitating the process of switching and having everything organized into a single repository, but, again, I think it's better to go into the details on the "big blog post" about this whole journey, which I hope I will post at the end of this week together with the [for now] complete configuration.
I will probably try to finish migrating the appearance of the system, things like my Eww configuration and wallpaper, with are somewhat easy knowing that I already have them completed and just need to migrate them to this new configuration/syntax.

Song: Asgretalos - by Keygen Church A very calm music from the author of the first songs in Ultrakill ;') but really, why there aren't that many songs with incorporate pipe organ into modern music, it sounds so heavy and heavenly at the same time. It's always that feeling of defeating and fighting literal gods.
